Guichard Ulysse "Chef G" - 2026 South Carolina Chef Ambassador 

Chef Guichard “Chef G” Ulysse is a Haitian-born culinary leader whose work bridges culture, technique, and community through food. Raised in Haiti, his earliest culinary education came at home, cooking alongside his mother and experiencing firsthand how food can unite people, tell stories, and preserve heritage.

After moving to the United States, Chef G refined his craft at Johnson & Wales University. Over the course of a 20-year career, he rose through the ranks of the hospitality industry—from line cook to executive leadership—developing a deep expertise in both culinary execution and restaurant operations.

He is the chef and owner of House 509 Bistro & Wine Bar in South Carolina, where his cuisine reflects a distinctive fusion. Known for his signature entrée flights and intentional wine pairings, Chef G creates immersive, multi-sensory dining experiences that challenge traditional menu formats and elevate guest engagement.

As a 2026 Chef Ambassador for South Carolina, Chef G represents a new generation of culinary leadership—one that honors tradition while pushing the boundaries of modern dining. Through his platform at House 509 Bistro & Wine Bar, he champions the connection between local agriculture and elevated cuisine, working closely with regional farms, fisheries, and producers to showcase the depth and diversity of South Carolina’s ingredients. His work extends into mentorship, team development, and community building, creating pathways for growth within the hospitality industry.

Chef G’s culinary voice is rooted in heritage, driven by innovation, and guided by a commitment to excellence. Through his work, he continues to redefine what it means to dine—not just as a meal, but as an experience of culture, connection, and celebration.

Wine & Menu Director 

Jessica Charles- Ulysse

 

Growing up on a farm and winery in rural Upstate New York, Jessica was raised on local foods. Captivated by their robust flavors and intrigued by the health benefits, Jessica gained a degree in food service from Syracuse University and post graduate dietetic internship at Cornell University’s top-ranked culinary school. She then received a master’s degree in nutritional science from the University of Alabama.


Jessica worked in a progression of frontline food service positions before transitioning into operations management. As a corporate menu planner, she traveled to more than 75 wineries. With her extensive experience in food preparation and wines, Jessica is expert at pairing them to create the most pleasing combination for the palate.


Together, Jessica and Guichard create a powerhouse of food knowledge and culinary skill that they bring to their House 509 Bistro & Wine Bar. They welcome guests to savor delicious food with palate-pleasing wine.
